Overview

Job Title: Training Specialist Senior - Army Space Training Division
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
 
Introduction: 
Rivet Operations Company, LLC, has an opening for a Senior Training Specialist to support the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Space and Missile Defense (SDM) Center of Excellence (SMDCoE) also known as the US SMD School.  SMD School (SMDS) core functions include:  1) Educate, train, and develop leaders for Space and Missile Defense operations; 2) Develop Army Doctrine for Space, High Altitude, and Global Missile Defense; 3) Develop individual and collective training tasks for Space and Missile Defense operations; 4) Train and educate the Army at large in Space and Missile Defense; and 5) Execute the US Army’s Quality Assurance Program to ensure standards are met in the education, training, and leadership development of Soldiers and Civilians.
 
This position will provide support to the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) Branch within the Army Space Training Division (ASTD).

This is a temporary position with an estimated period of performance through May 2027.
 
Responsibilities:
• Provide subject matter expertise and knowledge of space capabilities and support to Army operations.
• Provide space-focused subject matter expert duties in support of Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) events, to include Command Post Exercises. Participate as instructors, field trainers, and technical experts in support of mobile training teams (MTTs), providing Observer Controller / Trainer (OC/T)-like augmentation, facilitate replication of a contested space environment, provide exercise control group support, and provide OPFOR support.
• Stay current on space domain capabilities and conduct research on new threats to current Army space-enabled capabilities, update existing training materials as necessary, and develop new training materials after analyzing the results of the research. Research shall include coordination with the SMDS training divisions to ensure training materials updated or developed are current, accurate, and aligned with Army School institutional training materials. 
• Conduct coordination with the MCTP POCs to determine required space support to event execution.
• Coordinate with commands and staff at all echelons to ensure integrated support during all MCTP exercises.
• Support MCTP exercises with space-focused exercise injects as prescribed by MCTP staff with a focus on friendly and adversary space capabilities and effects, the contested space operational environment, and products associated with each.
• Participate in MCTP Warfighter Exercise planning events to ensure all space domain capabilities and effects are current, identified, and represented. The contractor will plan support using the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) process.
• Support the development of exercise objectives and training objectives in coordination with the MCTP staff and the rotational training units.
• Ensure all MCTP support activities are fully coordinated, synchronized, and integrated with other USASMDC elements and other space elements participating in MCTP Warfighter Exercises.
• Develop coordinated and synchronized storylines and events to exercise the training objectives for contested space operational environment conditions using the Joint Master Scenario Event List (JMESL) tool for planning and during execution.
• Collects observations supporting unit training objective performance during exercises, documenting the results to facilitate lessons learned and after action reviews.
• Support Mission Command Training Academics associated with Warfighter Exercises.
• Provide pre-event overview of the exercise, support required, and execution plan to the respective government lead prior to event execution.
• Conduct after action reviews (AAR), either in support of a government lead or independently, and report the results of the AARs for use in identification of trends for use in revision of training content as needed. 
• Provide Executive Summaries (EXSUMS) following all planning events and event execution. 
• Travel to conduct training as required.

Requirements

Requirements:
• 12+ years of space related military experience.
• Understanding of Space Fundamentals and the integration of Space across all warfighting functions.
• Experience and understanding of military operations and general officer-level staff operations.
• Mission Command Training Program experience and/or Army Warfighter Exercise participation experience.
• Understanding of Exercise Control Group operations and exercise planning processes.
• Experience integrating nonlethal targeting into Division and higher targeting process.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to brief higher ranking officials.
• Understand the MDMP process.
• Ability to articulate space to non-space personnel.
• Ability to travel 50% or more.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
• MOSQ: FA40, Space 200, ASCBC, Space Operations Course, or other relevant space courses.
• Graduate of a military instructor training course (ITC/SGITC, FIFC, ABIC, AFBIC, etc.). Previous instructor-facilitator experience.
• OC/T experience.
• Familiarity with Space Support Requests (SSRs) and Non-kinetic Effects Request Forms (NERF).
• Familiarity with software platforms FADE-MIST, WIDOW, MAVEN, CPCE, and ISSA.
 
Security: 
Requires the applicant to possess and maintain an active security clearance for the position.  Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.

Physical Requirements:
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required. Possible lifting up to 25 lbs.

Posted Salary Range

USD $110,000.00 - USD $125,000.00 /Yr.
